Wishlist Wednesday: It's A No Go

I'm skipping the wishlist today.   I'm seriously slipping because I skipped Monday's meal plan (we had enough groceries remaining from last week and dining misadventures that we're borrowing from the last one.)
Now that I think about it, Friday's post was a day late too!  Such is life in the Brown household.  Always late or off-schedule.  

I could take the time to come up with some wishes... but really I'm feeling satisfied today and there's nothing 'jumping' out at me that I 'want'.  Oh sure, there's lots that I want... just nothing to throw into a collage and talk about. 

I've been workin on more shower details for April - including the finishing touches on the last of the 40 handcrafted invitations.   For today, I've had it with ribbon, charms & embossing powder.  Our venue is booked (Aurora Seniors' Centre), colour scheme selected and I think we've picked the favours we're going to use.   We'll be throwing a tea-style shower - lots of finger foods, mixing and mingling!  Still no thoughts on shower games - I don't want anything too cheesy, and we only have a 3 hour window for all our fun.  Any thoughts or tips on hosting a fantastic shower?   Any good game ideas?  

Best part of all of this shower stuff?  No boys... and I get to dress up!  Bring on my fun & flirty Madden Girl Rosette Pumps!

Menu Monday: 2013

The craziness of the holidays are over.  Our family vacation is complete.  We've battled the flu (and various other ailments).  Last week my kids even made it through a whole week of school (a miracle, it seems this winter.)  With the craziness of life, we've been reaching for convenience - shopping without a list and thinking what's easy?  Our budget (and mealplan) have gone way off track. Now that things seem to be settling into routine again, I took the time to write a grocery list and plan our meals for the next 10 or so days.  I always feel so much better when I have a full fridge, full cupboard and know we won't be eating pizza!  My latest grocery shop won't get me through completely - I'll have to run out for a top-up at some point - but the bulk of it is done and there is no pesky wondering about "what's for dinner?" Home Sweet Home (or Time Flies When You're Having Fun)

It's hard to believe that I haven't posted anything since Day 1 of our California adventure (gasp!)  Actually, for anyone who really knows me, it's highly unexpected.   Life gets busy...and the blog gets sent to the back burner.   We've almost been home for 2 weeks... we've survived the daily grind, birthday parties, Ribfest and a face-off with strep throat (not fun!  I forget how yucky it is until I get it... my sympathies to those fighting it at present.  I apologize if you got the germs from me!) And now it's time to really get back into the swing of things...  I'll update the highlights and anecdotes from our trip another day (or you could just check out the pictures on Facebook!)  Funniest quote goes to Kaleb on the shuttle bus to Disney:  "Daddy, I know when the world is going to end."  (He says this in all seriousness like this a normal topic of conversation for a 5 year old.)  Kevin:  "Oh really?  When?...

Pretty Projects... & A Failure! (AKA I Can't Always Be Perfect)

First off... I'm anxiously excitedly awaiting the arrival of my new little niece.  C'mon honey!  We want to meet you, cuddle you and smother you in kisses xoxoxo.   Keeping my brother and his family (and more specifically, my sister-in-law) in my thoughts and prayers as the countdown continues.   It will be so much fun having a princess to spoil! Second... I wish I could sew.  Seriously, I own a sewing machine but I can't sew a straight line if my life depended on it.  A class is on that to-do list... but that to-do list is a mile long! Third:  I'd really like to master the paper rosette (as shown on the Dream, Create, Inspire blog.)  Mine always come out lopsided and not-so-pretty.  I think this is probably one goal I should be able to get right.  Darn it, I will get it right!  Nothing will stop me and you'll see these pretty paper pieces popping up all over my do-it-yourself projects.
