This Little Princess

She finally decided to make her arrival (and she definitely deserves a post all her own!)

The wait is thankfully over (as I'm sure her mom will agree!) I'm an auntie again to a sweet little princess. Congrats to my brother, sister-in-law, and nephews (James, Krystel, Knightley and Hawksley) on the safe arrival of their baby girl, Tahlia Victoria! She was born this morning at 2:38am and weighs 7lbs 2oz.

We will make the drive to see them this weekend.  The boys and I are so excited to give her cuddles and kisses.  She's the first little girl in our family and will be treated like the princess she is!

Charming Ribbon Bookmark Knockoff

I'm not sure I've ever tried (or successfully managed) a chain store knockoff before.   A few weeks ago, the boys and I were in Pier1.  (I think that trip gave me a heart condition - do NOT EVER - never, ever even - bring two rambunctious monkeys into a store filled with pretty expensive things.)   I have never said, "Stop touching."  "Look with your eyes!"  "Don't run."  so many times in one short span of time. I  love Pier1, but for a mama on a budget who isn't quite sure how she wants to decorate her house, it can still be a bit pricey.   They have some fabulous items though - their decor, art, dishes, and accessories make me swoon a little when I meander through their greatness.   I even love their little tchotskys and giftables - which is what inspired this knockoff. Incredibly Delicious Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls

I found a fabulous deal on a bread machine via Amazon.ca just before Christmas and I've been using it sporadically for this and that.  Then Christmas and the various hosting opportunities arrived and I had no room for it in my kitchen so I placed it in the basement out of sight.   Last week, I decided to bring it up again and test some recipes.  Some were just "meh" (not horrible... but not delicious).   Others have been pretty darn good.   These cinnamon rolls though... they go way beyond "pretty darn good" and right into "incredibly delicious."  I've been craving cinnamon rolls all week, but in my mind, they're a weekend treat.  This is probably because of the time factor involved.  I struggle enough to get three of us out the door with somewhat healthy lunches, a belly full, and hopefully teeth brushed.  If clothes match and we remembered our gloves, that's just a bonus.  Forget time to proof a batch of cinnamon rolls, bake them, a...

A Quiet Moment With A Traditional Cup Of Cocoa

Sounds relaxing, doesn't it?   Well let me tell you, it wasn't!  Selecting paint colours stresses me out.  I don't know why.  Maybe because I have no eye for decor and HATE the painting process - so whatever I choose, I'm stuck with until it's so bad I can't live with it anymore.   (Helloooo?!? 6 years in a 7 year old house and we still have builder white on the walls!) Friday night we thought we'd get a start on our remodel beginning with a trip to Home Depot.  Usually I love browsing at Home Depot but Friday night we had two cranky kids with us who didn't want to sit still and then, after multiple trips to the bathroom, Mommy had enough, Daddy had enough and all we did was pick out our paint and supplies.     After all the suggestions on my Facebook note query, we opted for "A Quiet Moment" for the kitchen, with "Traditional" as our accent wall and "Cup of Cocoa" as our main colour throughout.    It...
