This Little Princess

She finally decided to make her arrival (and she definitely deserves a post all her own!)

The wait is thankfully over (as I'm sure her mom will agree!) I'm an auntie again to a sweet little princess. Congrats to my brother, sister-in-law, and nephews (James, Krystel, Knightley and Hawksley) on the safe arrival of their baby girl, Tahlia Victoria! She was born this morning at 2:38am and weighs 7lbs 2oz.

We will make the drive to see them this weekend.  The boys and I are so excited to give her cuddles and kisses.  She's the first little girl in our family and will be treated like the princess she is!

It's hard to believe that I haven't posted anything since Day 1 of our California adventure (gasp!)  Actually, for anyone who really knows me, it's highly unexpected.   Life gets busy...and the blog gets sent to the back burner.   We've almost been home for 2 weeks... we've survived the daily grind, birthday parties, Ribfest and a face-off with strep throat (not fun!  I forget how yucky it is until I get it... my sympathies to those fighting it at present.  I apologize if you got the germs from me!) A Quiet Moment With A Traditional Cup Of Cocoa

Sounds relaxing, doesn't it?   Well let me tell you, it wasn't!  Selecting paint colours stresses me out.  I don't know why.  Maybe because I have no eye for decor and HATE the painting process - so whatever I choose, I'm stuck with until it's so bad I can't live with it anymore.   (Helloooo?!? 6 years in a 7 year old house and we still have builder white on the walls!) Friday night we thought we'd get a start on our remodel beginning with a trip to Home Depot.  Usually I love browsing at Home Depot but Friday night we had two cranky kids with us who didn't want to sit still and then, after multiple trips to the bathroom, Mommy had enough, Daddy had enough and all we did was pick out our paint and supplies.     After all the suggestions on my Facebook note query, we opted for "A Quiet Moment" for the kitchen, with "Traditional" as our accent wall and "Cup of Cocoa" as our main colour throughout.    It...

I'm On The Hunt For:

One delicious pot roast (oven or crock pot) recipe.   Once upon a time, I had the most delicious recipe that wasn't so much a recipe but a scribble on a scrap piece of paper culminating my trial-and-error attempts at fine-tuning my pot roast recipe.   All I can remember is that it involved ginger and onions!   I would toss everything into the crock pot, cook on high for 4 hours and the roast would turn out tender, juicy and oh-so-tasty.  I could even make it from memory.  The last time I made it was Christmas 2008.  Somewhere along the way I lost a few brain cells (the ones that had the recipe filed away for safe-keeping!) and I unfortunately also lost the scrap of paper and for the life of me cannot duplicate the results. This makes me a little cranky when I'm anticipating a wonderful roast and end up with a mediocre replacement.  I'm picky about roast - it has to be perfect for me to truly enjoy it.  We've had some...
